Very dumb question

Forgive my lack of knowledge in horse care, but I am curious as to why racehorses (Thoroughbreds in particular) do not have mineral blocks or salt licks in their stall? My best guess is it does something to interact with medications they get on the side (Clen, Bute, Salix etc...) Am I right or wrong?

A lot of TBs DO have salt licks in their stalls. However, a lot of tbs have their feed top dressed with minerals or they are fed grain already containing minerals.

We have kept them in the stalls for our racehorses. But they get the salt and minerals added to their feed and seldom, if ever, use the licks. After moving whole, unused, blocks from track to track you eventually end up just leaving them behind

Many are fed complete feeds which contain salt. I have never heard of anything being fed or not fed due to any interactions with anything. Where did you hear that?
