Cracks In Hooves

Postby LKR » Sat Mar 13, 2010 8:53 am

Our old stallion has cracks in all his feet. They are super dry. They are very superficial, no quarter crack or anything. What would be a good moisturizing topical concoction???

I like Rainmaker. But I also add Smart Hoof from SmartPak in my horse's grain. Its helped tremendously with any problem hooves.

You might want to try gelatin..

walking in mud, like at his paddock's water trough. would also probably help

Ditto on the mud around the water trough...I HATED that at first..but it does keep the moisture right there...it benefits all of them...let it run over.

All but one of my horses are barefoot. The one gets the cracks you mention..I keep him shoed in the front...and put olive oil on his hooves..
