For some reason, one of our stallions quit eating his grain with NW Supplement in it. The other one does. Is there a good one in a liquid form that I could adminster orally?

It's a pelleted supplement. Now he has backed off of the grain, which is a pelleted feed. I am going to give him some stuff for ulcers and maybe something to stimulate his appetite. Also will check his teeth. He is still full of energy.

He's heavy into breeding season and for one thing, we are super deficient in selenium here.

Red Cell & a dose syringe. I would dose on at least a partially full stomach, esp if you suspect he has ulcers. I would also be treating for ulcers, even if just with aloe vera juice.

Good luck Kathy! :)

the iron in Red Cell possibly is grossly unnecessary and harmful in that combined with other iron that horses are exposed to as excessive. this is based on what I saw at one time regarding the iron content of rich pasture and horse feed. maybe someone would rebut that?

a suggestion that has been working good for me--I buy human generic vitamin pills, put 4 or 5 with the grain every other day. they eat it up and never notice. It's also really cheaper in terms of what u get for the price.

That sounds like the trick to me. Thanks.

Just give him a selenium shot every 6 weeks, same as horses running in the NW.

be careful, too much selenium is very harmful and most balanced feeds address the selenium needs for their specific area.

Your horse might be trying to tell you something.

horses evolved eating grass and schrubs which was a high omega 3 diet.. Grain and most supplements are very high in omega 6..

SmartPak has an Vet that will discuss specific situations with you..
