What is the best time for feet trims on a baby I know of people who start at 3 monthes or before and some who go alot latter so what is a good average age

We just have our farrier look at the munchkins every time he's out. Last time he was out here, we had two colts that were a little over 2 months old... he looked at them and one needed some work, the other didn't. He just keeps checking them out each time until they need something done, then he goes to it.

my filly that was born 3/11 has been trimmed 3 times (yep a little crooked on the front end) the filly born 4/19 has been trimmed once and my filly born 5/6 has not been touched.

It all depends on the hoofs.. some are better then others some longer than others.

I like to get them trimmed at about 2 months though...

I got my little guys feet done and he was pretty good for his first time his front end is nice and straight but he was starting to crush the heals due to lenght. is 3 months and growing like a weed.

OUr filly was born May 9th and she will be getting done for the first time this next week. I think it all depends on the horse and their conformation. Not to mention the type of footing the spend the most time on...hard dirt, soft grass, dry paddock etc....

We always trimmed them at one month and then were checked every two weeks.

If your feeding your TB MSM or Bee Pollen, which makes the hooves grow faster you better check their feet every 3 to 4 weeks.
