Pasterns dropping on a April baby

Help,
I have seen pasterns drop in dogs it either means we are teething or that a mineral is missing. I have never seen this in one of my foals . Does it work the same way? This boy is going to be HUGE!!! Just noticed the pasterns this morning so it's happened really quickly..Ideas?
