Chance as a Brood Mare

I own a filly named Seeking Destiny ( Ford Every Stream/Destiny Calls ). She is a registered Louisiana Bred, purchased as a yearling in the Louisiana yearling sale. She has a Lameness problem that started about 1/2 way through her 2 year od season. Goes away with rest, comes back in 4-5 weeks. Have had X-rays, ultr sound, 3-4 various vets, race trainer look at her, and last week a body scan at Louisiana State Univ. Nobody including LSU body scan can figure problem out. We have elected to no longer try to get her to the races ( she is a 3 year old ). LSU vet says she would make a good ridung pet, and also verified she was sound enough to be a broodmare. Question is, does her pedigree warrant a chance as broodmare? If so to what Stallion in Louisiana? Do we just find a home for her?

Breed her. Although the sire is not commercially viable she hails from a superb family with good black type in the first dam.

Mating suggestion: SKY CLASSIC. Inbreed to NO CLASS on a proven ND/MR P cross.

Is Sky Classic still at stud?? He must be 25 or so..

My only concern with the filly would be that lameness. Could she throw that? I would really want to know before I spent the money to breed.

In LA, you have Yankee Gentleman - might be a nice cross for her.

Vet at Louisiana State University who prformed the body scan says she can handle being a brood mare.

Right, but what Madelyn was asking was if the mare's unsoundness might be based on some sort of genetic trait that could be inherited by her offspring.

Thank you for the clarifacation, she has a 1/2 sibling who does not have this trait. I asked the people at LSU if that was a posibility, and they said not very likley. How would you determine such a thing. Her dam was one heck of a race horse. Believe 27 races and over $600,000 in winnings, was Champion Older Mare in Louisiana.

Would breed her to a son of Smart Strike if possible (ok not Curlin, but maybe Pleasant strike) to pick up on that female family.

If she just turned 3 she's not done growing yet, so maybe this will clear up?

Thanks to all who offered advice here and through PM. I am not a breeder and don't know much about the process. I have made the decision that I will give her to a breeder or a responsible person who would like to breed. If I can't find a "breeder" home for her, then I will give her to a rescue or placement organization that will find her a good pet home.
