For anyone interested I have posted a new continuing thread in the Pedigree Analysis portion of the board.
I am posting about patterns and "observations" of the formation of the early Thoroughbred.
I am coming to no "conclusions" for any singled out theory.
Just an observation of how the breed was formed and in the future how it continued.
I welcome anyone to participate.
I felt that it would be better to have the subject posted "there" instead of the General or Racing sections.
After all, observing pedigree is a type of analysis is it not?

No matter which system of strain making you follow, the line must bend 1 way or the other. there's no middle road, other than in those yards were the breeders' indulge in outcrossing. hear the lines switch from 1 sex to the other in a breeding gamble in which the odds are against us.

Note that the Colts bred from a female family demonstrate the fact of the train a marked filly appearance especially in the shape of the head. Such colts are usually compact, small medium in size.

the sport is rife with sayings which point, to The absolute division of inbred families into male and female. For example, many breeders have done well with filly looking colts but never with colt looking fillys. Need we wonder why? The former is obviously the thoroughbred product of a female family while the latter is patently bred from an impossible cross, or is the throw out from a male family.

T. Lauren the gallop girl for Mandella pointed out the gorgeous Giants Causeway colt, a dk.b. I like his eye very intelligent, his stall in on the west wall facing Mat Chew's shedrow. Do you like the way he moves, as he is light on his feet. Have you seen him Gallop or work? Louis.

Lauren worked for Pletcher at HP, but when Pletcher went East, Lauren stayed at SA with Mandella, she is a nice girl just like you, now Mandella has 2 Stake fillies galloping his Tb.

Mandella has a index card posted on each of his Tb stall door of the sire & dam of his Tb. I always check the sire & dam of his Tb to keep tabs on his Tb, This is the 1st Spietstown ive seen in his shedrow, lets follow him & hope he can outrun the devil. LOL Louis.

When I am talking about male and female families, I am referring to inbred families. There is no such thing as an outcross strain since in such instances no strain can be developed or carried on. It is impossible for any breeder to create a strain without recourse to some form of inbreeding, even if the term is toned down by calling it
line-breeding.

Though only families worth buying are those in which exceptional merit and talent have to a certain extent been locked in by a measure of close inbreeding.

Louis, I must admit that I read much of what you have written with a grain of salt, I do find most of it interesting, and most of what you've been writing here makes sense to me, whether I agree with it or not. You have completely lost me on this most recent thesis, I just don't understand what you are trying to say about inbred male and female families, and how the colts look like the females and the fillies look like the males.
Maybe if someone else that reads this thread could explain it to me? Seriously, not tongue in cheek.

Great BMS descend Female families, great sire of sires descend from male families. when you look at the pedigree & family of habitat, princequillo, Double Jay & bull lea you will find a female family influence as all those stallions top broodmare sires.

if I'm going to fast, or have lost anybody, please post your questions and I will walk you through them. I take for granted that everyone on this form understand what I am trying to describe, but there are many novices that are entering our sport, for them it is a big puzzle.

The process of fixing virtues and true to type characteristics must be to promote 1 sex above the other and lockin the sex domination. It remains for the buyer to beware and makes certain by studying the pedigree, which kind of family he proposes to introduce. The buyer is usually given the choice, anyway.

When a breeder offers his bloodstock for sale usually publishes the pedigree of the parentage and permits the buyer to bid for either a colt or filly. When no pedigrees are published the buyer should ask for details of their ancestors before making his purchase. Leading breeders are always willing and usually happy to supply such information.

How is this done Louis? Especially with a hybrid.
I assume by posting this part of your comment that you have studied at least basic genetics?

Take note of how many times a certain stallion or mare appears in the breeding lines of every pedigree where their is at least 1 outstanding performer. If the family is an inbred 1 this special performer should appear more than once in the patentage of its descendants. It is this concentrated breeding back to those exceptional performers which causes a sex to dominate the family.

The ruin of many a good family has started with a switch of sex in the breeding lines, notably when introducing a new cross. note how a great name persists for a few years, then becomes a fallen star, eventually to be forgotten.
