I see that the previous thread has been viewed almost 400,000 times. Even at one minute per view that adds up to about 6,600 hours of essentially wasted time. Wow! I wonder how many of us, on our deathbeds, will wish we would have spent that precious time in some other way.
I spend far more time utilizing the actual Pedigree Query portion of this site than attending this forum. By studying PATTERNS first, names second, I've learned a lot more about successful breeding strategies than anything I've gleaned on this side of the website.
Pedigrees are the foundation of all things Thoroughbred. This is a gem of a free service and I encourage posters here to take advantage of it.

Spending time wisely

Before the computer age, i did all of my research from the JC Foal Book. I traced all the sire lines of the mares that those Great Breeders of the past bred to their stallions. I saw why those Great Breeders of the past bred sound superior runners.
In their times frame the breed was not 95% Ph. Those NP sire lines were alive & well, & those stallions that those mares were bred to, had a variety of those NP sire line to find their nicking factor. Thats why many stallions today cant find their bloodline affinity.
Time spent wisely, pays dividends.
