4S X 5D to Mr Prospector
Vinemeister X Queen Hypolita
Vinemeister retried sound with a race record of 68/9/6/12 and $420,700 in winnings between 06/23/2001 and 12/27/2007 or approximately one start every five weeks for 6 pus years.
Queen Hypolita has a race record of 68/15/12/10 and $324,915 in winnings between 06/14/2004 and 1/22/2010 or approximately one start every 5 weeks for 6 plus years.
Not 100% sound when she retired but but walking away with 68 starts is good enough for me..
Thought about taking her to Prospect Bay for some Crafty Prospector line breeding but the Queen is already rather ugly.

Thanks Jeff
Thought about taking her to Prospect bay for some speed and Crafty Prospector line=breeding but am tired of training horses for 6 to 8 months and then running them for a couple of years or less:
Charitable Man = 8/3/1/1
Prospect Bay = 7/4/2/1
Vinemeister = 68/9/6/12

Griff,
I think she could produce a fantastic horse, whatever sire you breed her to. Seems you are partial to the Seattle Slew line.
Charitable man was a graded stakes winner as a 2 and 3 year old, and looking at his photo, he's drop dead gorgeous! Sounds like The Queen could use some gorgous from your post. Looks like he got a good dose of those Saint Ballado genes looking at his photos. He's got a good dose of Seattle Slew too, damsire of Lemon Drop Kid.
Because I bred a mare this year to a son of Saint Ballado, I'v been obsessive compulsive looking at what it crosses well with, and it over and over again likes returns of itself, it love Halo, and that Royal Match; 7/8 sister to Halo in your mares pedigree, I think it's just the kind of mating could be that very special one. A cursory look at Queen Hypolita's pedigree, I don't see where it's ever been tried before, a Halo broodmare sire line, hooking this 7/8 sister to Halo, looks like it would be a first if you tried it.
Griff, thank you for starting the thread, I'v had hours of fun pedigree shopping for Queen Hypolita

How about pedigree shopping Legitimada for me. I breed WVBRED and PABRED horses and she's in-foal to Prospect Bay for February 2013.
She is Mr P free and I believe she could use some for some Native Dancer line breeding.
I like her with Vinemeister but my partner, who gets the call next year likes him with Garnered which is an A++ nick.

Griff,
It looks like the Vinemeister would be good, that Seattle Slew over Nijinsky works, here in California Bold Chieftain and Roi Charmant come to mind.
The Prospect bay looks good to, speed there. I used to have a Make Tracks line filly which Legitimata has on her dam side. Mine was very post legged behind like Make Tracks was. I'd breed her to the horse with the best angled hind end with lots of scope if she's at all post legged behind.
I'll look at some other WV, PA stallions if I can get some time. Of course, since I'm still obsessing on Saint Ballado, I'll put in a pitch for Charitable Man for this one too. I have seen a pattern on these Saint Ballado's They like a Tom Fool cross in the mare, far as I can tell they crave that return to Pharamond II, and this Legitimata's sire Gem Master is 5x5 Menow x Pharamond II.

I did not mean to ignore your input, and I do have Legitimada, who ran 64 races in 6 years and retired sound, in-foal to Prospect Bay. Legitimada has no lines to Mr P and PB brings a second up-close line to ND through Danzig.
However, Legitimada is a very good looking mare while Queen Hypolita is not and crossing her to Prospect Bay would, I believe, yield a 2S X 4D to Crafty Prospector, who is, I believe, also very ugly.
By the way, Vinemeister's 68 races were not all claiming races; i.e.,he won a G-3 and placed second in a G-2. In addition to stakes and allowance wins and places. He also throws good looking foals but not many have raced to date.
I also have a 2012 Prospect Bay colt o/o of my Cryptoclearance/Silver Buck mare.

Griff,
I expect sound horses with long careers from your mares. Why isn't everybody doing that; breeding sound mares with many starts and long careers on the track?
It looks like the most logical thing to do to breed sound horses. Why doesn't it get done more often?
What are the statistics on mares with many starts as broodmares, do they have statistics to show they produce a more sound offspring? What do the statistics say?
Just curious.

more analysis than I can, or care to do.. Just seems logical to me that horses that stay sound and have many races under their belt have a better chance of producing the same than horses like Prospect bay.
He was a speed demon but had a very short racing career. I have a 2012 PB colt o/o a Crytoclearance/Silver Buck mare that raced 42 times. And looking forward to the PB foal o/o Legitimada [ 64 races in 6 years] in 2013.
That Cryptoclearance/Silver Buck mare is in-foal to Vinemeister for 2013.
