Ok, I have recently purchased a wonderful gelding TB. Country Cuzzin. He has a race record that I have seen and read, but can not make head nor tails of. If I read it right, he did race from ages 2 until 8. He made 52 starts and got 1st 6 times, 2nd 4 times, and 3rd 6 times winning a total of $111,975. But what the heck does "Turf" mean and "jumps" mean. Is that steeple chase stuff?
Also, I got his five generation pedigree his Dam is Mint Spring and his Sire is Cozzene. He is a descendant to War Admiral, does that line link back to Man O War? I have always had Qh, I am new to all this race stuff.
Thanks,
CC

Yes. War Admiral was arguably Man O' War's best racing son.

Good pedi. here:

Thanks! I just adore him, and I feel like I stole him from his previous owner. He really is a great horse.

Country Cuzzin is a '03 model by Cozzene, a good sturdy sire of turf horses. Turf means the race was run on the grass, not in dirt.

He raced for 7 years. Retired obviously sound, which means you pretty much have an iron horse. He sold at Keeneland November as a weanling (in '93) for $62,000 against a published stud fee for Cozzene of $10,000, and an AVERAGE weanling sales price of around $25,000 meaning he was at least twice as good looking as a baby as others by that sire.
