Yup, I was "unbanned" with the new board. Thanks for helping with this mix-up, Roguelet. :D

What??? Do tell what happened. Why would YOU get banned? I sure hope a couple of others are permanently banned.

BJ

BJ, I have NO clue why I got singled out. Roguelet couldn't figure it out either. I was over on the Yahoo site fussing and fuming about being a paying member and getting my IP banned while...*a certain other individual* was still posting. Poor Roguelet. She got inundated with my emails begging her for help. LOL Aw well. All's well that ends well. :D

Oh BTW..when you posted asking who knew what your initials stood for I was almost jumjping up and down. I think I knew...but couldn't post it. ACK!

Very happy indeed that the board is back up! But quite sad that there are apparently no archives... what will happen to that great font of information?

Glad to see so much of the Board back again. Makes me want to burst into song: "..Back in the saddle again....back where a friend is a friend....".
Now if only I can figure out how to do all these 'cute' things? Where is my 8YO nephew when I need him?!.

To Zialand

Postby BJL » Thu Sep 16, 2004 11:41 pm

I have a pretty good idea why some people's email addresses were banned. This new site doesn't stop anyone from having multiple names just like the last site. All anyone needs is many email accounts which is relatively easy. So I am not so quick to believe everyone on here is who they say they are. Heck one person can again be 6 people. I guess it really doesn't matter if it is more controlled then the last 2. I still think they should have banned certain individuals forever. :?

True, but often times the mere fact that you have to provide a working email account is enough to deter most trolls. Unless it's someone with a personal grudge and has a HELL of a lot of time to sign in and sign out each time they change socks, the average troll isn't going to bother with a login site. They tend to not like leaving traceable 'footprints'.

The next step after this is to make all transient email accounts moderated. Meaning, if you register and use AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. none of your posts go through unless they are approved first. I don't know a thing about these PHP sites, so I don't know if they can do that here.
