Poor Garrett Gomez
i'd be pretty peeved if I was him.
He asked T Pletch, is there anyway that Rags to Riches runs in the belmont.. because if there is, I'm not riding hard spun.
T Pletch says NO
Gomez takes the mount on hard spun, only to have R2R be in the race with a different jock.
You don't get to ride fillies that good every day. I'd be PEEVED...

I'm pretty sure Coolmore wanted Johnny V for this race...Gomez rides for the Arabs (Discreet Cat,...)

Now wouldn't you think with all the money she's got, she would have someone drive (have a limo) her home after a night of partying?
I know, we have more pressing matters in this country and here we sit, watching the trials and travails of a hotel heiress....
My money (the litttle I have, ha ha) says her parents sue L.A. County.

the more I think about it, the more I odn't feel bad for goGo
after winning 2 grade 1's, the SA Oaks in workout fashion.. after working the horse for the better part of 6 months, before the Kentucky Oaks he told people "we are going to see what type of horse she is today"...you had no idea you were sitting on the best filly in 30 years (possibly)? none whatsoever? How many horses hav eyou ridden Gogo? she wen toff at I think 2/5 and that was an overlay of epic porpitions. I told myself anythng over 1/9 I'm all in
I now see what JV is the regular and perfered rider of Pletcher.
I think in the end of the day, Garrett was just too dumb not to have THAT high of an opinion of R2R.
To add insult to injury, unlike hard spun, she's probably going to race NEXT YEAR, lol

JV was always Pletcher's go to guy. When he got hurt last year, GG came east and had a tremendous Saratoga meet for Pletcher. This led to some talk that GG had replaced Johnny as his #1. I don't believe that is/was the case. Both are outstanding jocks.
That said.... I can not figure out what GG was thinking on Saturday. He could have had the front end to himself in something as slow as 1:14 if he wanted to. He choked the heck out of Hard Spun and was left with nothing. I feel bad for the horse and the owner.....two very questionable rides in the last 2 races. I'm sure Jones (trainer) is angry, but part of that falls at his feet. If you're running in a G1, you better have absolute clear communication with the jock.....especially one who has never ridden for you and would rather be on another horse.

espically where he is located, Jermery Rose is as money as money gets espically in big money races...
the more I think about it, the more I like Pino's ride... I don't know why it's so hard for everyone to understand. just let the damn horse run. stop trying to make a stalker out of a front runner when oe's clear he doesn't liked to be rated. he is what he is\
I'm a big socal guy, and I never was that impressed with him. he's very strong and works hard but he gets the cream of the crop in mounts. Talamo is the next big thing and is probably already the best jock out here, at least on dirt. There aren't to many in the country if any better than Brice blanc on the grass. lol, I cashed a 50 dollar ticket one day just cutting the TV on and seeing a horse ridden by B Blanc going off at like 24 to 1 on a horse imported from the UK, no handicapping whatsoever
As un appeasing as he may be, Calivn Borel has always been one of the beter jockeis.. I'm from arkasnas.. he has been taking my money for years. HIm and Pat Day.
For my money however, Edgar Prado is the best in the country however

reread my post and did not mean to infer that JV would have ridden Rags if Pletcher had decided earlier on her. she was clearly GG's mount. my point is in the broader scope of the Pletcher barn, JV is 1...GG...1A.
And I still don't like the Hard Spun ride! Can you tell that it ruined my trifecta!

I completely agree on Jeremy Rose, and I like Pino, but there is something to be said for rationing out the speed at 1 1/4 vs. just standing on the gas. In stakes competition, there will normally be enough quality kick in the field to catch crazy fractions. One thing to mention, a good jock (Pino) probably doesn't have two bad races in a row on a horse he knows well, but I wouldn't have figured Gomez to ride like he did....so what do I know.
