How does it work? Service 2 Stallion owned by trainer.

A friend owns one service a year to a stallion. He sold the season last year
to someone, no money exchanged hands & wouldn't have until the mare foaled. She aborted. Is she still entitled to use the 2007 again this year or is it now null and void for the trainer. Selling the service each year is like a bonus so to speak. So he is wondering if the 2007 season is completely lost? :?:

There is a 2008 service which i have dibs on so i am wondering how it works usually?

The trainer could call and see if he can get two this year since the mare aborted last year. Some farms might allow it but I think it is a breeding right and there is no guarantee of a live foal. Good luck. I would at least call and ask. The worst they can say is "no".

Its my friends boss who owns the stallion & they told him nothing when they gave him a season a year as in they never told him any stipulations.. so he is kind of left in the dark. (they originally gave him two a year and then renegged and gave him 1 a year.) Its not a stallion that is worth a ton of money, its a $5000. So he is at loss as to what to do? Thanks for telling me that i will pass it on.

I've never seen many trainers that are at a loss when asking for something from an owner. Usually one breeding a year means one breeding a year and they don't carry over (especially if the horse moves). I have bred mares for trainers before who had lifetime breedings to horses and most times they brought fillies off the track with overies the size of lima beans to breed.

so what u are telling me is the mare aborted so thats it. I have the 2008 season to the stallion. He isn't moving etc. Its just my friend gave it to a friend last year reduced but told her it was due when foal stands and nurses.. assuming if she aborted the breeding would still be honoured?
So now don't know what to do really.
