Best Turf hroses in training regardless of sex or age

I got to thinking with all of the turf races today, how would you rate all of the american turf horses we have? Do we have a shot at anything in October?

This is horses that have ran at least twice in america and will be running.


6. Nobiz like shobiz-- The talent is there, however he just can't put it all together long enough to really do anything worthwhile. here is hoping he can turn it around this year. pretty horse

5. Cowboy Cal- If you want my honest opinino, which might be worth a cup of basket robins but hey, I think he can beat half of these horses RIGHT NOW. I've never been this high on a pletcher horse in my life... i feel like i"m doing something evil. I think this is a hors that can sweep the Grass Triple Crown and make a legit play for the Arc. please for the love of god pletch keep him off the derby trail.

4. Shamdinan- This horse can run with ANYone in the world.. the only catch is it has to be soft turf. the softer the better. actually had him to win in the Breeders Cup turf... damn you english channel. right now, if there is a soft course that comes up he's as good as an ATM machine. off of it he might be a grade 3 horse.

3. Champs Elysees- okay i'm biased.. i love his name for one. I love his pedigree even more. but he can scoot. frankel will have this one cranked for the breeders cup this year and I think with his pedigree and class he is a legit horse... on a fast track he will be tough to beat.


2. Datyona- This irish gelding can flat out skiddale. tied a track record and beat champs elysees (albeit a horid ride on him) in a grade 2. IMHO at a classic distance in america, maybe nobiz can get him when he's on his game..... maybe. look forward to seeing him at the end of the year.


1. Kip Deville- The horse that never gets any respect. AT A MILE.. when e is healthy.. you can't beat him. he's a reincornation of lure. 8 to 1 on him at monmouth was like stealing candy. okay at the time I wouldn't have put it i n thoose words but he's money at a mile, when he is healthy. i haven't seen anything that suggests he is gone (is he?) and I think he will repeat his mile performance and I think if he had went overseas would have won that as well... at a mile there might be 2 horses (Darjina and the darley horse, R something) that can beat him somewhat of a constant basis.. in america there isn't any I think that can.

Regarding Daytona.

The pedigree forum shows him as a Colt. For some reason I thought he had been gelded.

Though he is a grass runner, I sure hope he gets a chance to go to stud. I would love to see any Beyerly Turk horse have a chance to continue on the BT line.

meaning it isn't restricted to US breds, but horses who race here.


what's sad is half of that list are horses bred outside America.. daytona was bred in Ireland.

I read that after I posted. I still think its a bit of a stretch to call 2 horses that have run most of their lives in Europe "American Turf Horses". But then again like you said the list would be pretty weak.
I do think that a sound Showing Up should be near the top of that list though.

i thought about that.. but i have no reason to believe he is the same horse he was last year in the beginning of the year.
