Anyone else intrigued by this boy?

I REALLY like him for 2 or 3 of my mares. In fact, I think I might send my Trempolino mare to him next year. She is foaling a Cozzene on a late cover so will have this year off.

Anyone breed to him? If so, is he generally throwing correct and sane babies?

Has anyone seen him in person? If so, how are his feet? Was he barefoot or shod? If shod, in bar shoes, clips, or plain?

Any "talk" about his kids or siring ability?

We've bred to him 3 times. The foals are all correct and full of starch. They have some of the best hips and shoulders I've seen in young foals.

I'm not sure he's going to make a stallion and he has quite the mean streak in him, but he's throwing correct babies.

the yearlings that went around at Karaka by him were terrible! There were some from nice mares too.

Boof headed, bad walking cart horses and many of them had leg defects.

Well, as long as they don't have MAJOR conformation faults (severe-calf knees/knee or pastern deviation/super straight shoulder/super shallow hip/etc.) and have good feet than I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater! I can except an ugly cart horse who walks like crap! After all, I want a racehorse not a show horse! :twisted:

Were they out of Australian families or stallions? The American crops have looked pretty damn solid.

Be interesting to see what the difference was.

I am not familiar with the term "boof headed". I am pretty sure it was not a compliment. Will you kindly explain the term and it origins?

I'm guessing stupid, but it leads into something that annoys the hell out of me. People who fault a horse (yearling, mare, stallion) because they don't like his eye or head. As long as the horse has 2 eyes (even 1 isn't the end of the world) and a head I could care less what the hell it looks like if it can run.

boof headed means they are just a bit common, lack refinement. i agree that doesn't necessarilly proclude a horse from being a top galloper but if we knew which horses could run and which couldn't, yearling sales would be a different place wouldn't they?

Agreed, that's why I laugh when a friend or someone says to me, he/she looks great but I don't like his/her head. I would hate to be the person who passed on a Graded/Group winner because it had an ugly head.

Maybe Wallinga meant commercially.

People DO care about looks, head, neck, etc..commercially speaking. It's so crazy that I have to blink in amazement!!

Try reading the quotes from Commercial buyers in the TB Times! They are all like...he was such an impressive, phyical specimen, great scope, attractive head...and my all-time favorite- "looks like he wants to go two
turns". :shock:

Like Wallinga said, how the heck can they tell all that from looking at a baby!!! Idiots!!!

I watched this thing on W. Lucas and he had some pretty insane comments. Don't quote me... but I think one of the things he said was that he only bids on horses that have a great, high set neck (in addition to other traits but they needed the neck). He bought Winning Colors by seeing her from the withers up because the rest was hidden behind a partition. Whatever!!! I can show you hundreds of graded stakes horses and Champions with ewe necks!!

Go back when you guys have time and flip through the TB times at the quotes buyers make at these sales and you will laugh your behind off!!

It is crazy but looks do matter to these people!!!

They, meaning commercial buyers, also have a size prejudice. Small is out and huge is in. How completely crazy is that!! Yeah, you go ahead and keep sending those small fries my way as I'll gladly follow them into the winners circle!! :twisted:
