Here ya' go-
Direct link to 'Cheri's' page:
http://www.ac4h.com/Cheri.htm
We are seriously trying to figure out if anyone recognizes this filly. Please take a good look at her. She's cute as a button. No tattoo, just the racing plates that were on her. Suspect she came from Penn or Phila. We've been pullling alot of ottbs that last raced at Phila (kinda odd as they're usually from Penn!).
The meatman also had another young colt, no tattoo just the racing plates on him, he was bought privately out of the pen (just got this info today he was supposed to go to AC4H/ but hey, if there's a private buyer, that's fine too!).
We're actually working on fundraising to save this fella as I type- he went to the direct to slaughter pen. If anyone's interested, all the info is there.

Look at this mareI had for sale:
and now this mare at ac4h:
[/img]
if it weren't for the little bit of white that Cheri has on the hind coronet...they look a lot alike. Their star is even the same shape. The mare in the first pic still needed some weight at first, but she gained some in the meantime and would have filled out to look more like the 2nd mare. LOL it even looks like the same halter.

I have a question and mind you Im not looking to offend anyone. If there is such a need for a buyer/homes for horses coming off of Penn then why is AC4H buying horses from a meat buyer? I mean, would it not make more sense to buy from the track and at least have a better chance of getting SOME information on these horses, or even their papers?
I have in the past sent emails to AC4H about horses they had and to be honest was never given a straight answer many times. Most of the time these horses have no papers so its one persons word as to who the horse really is unless you invest in a Tattoo search. I just figured lack of a straight answer was do to just lack of proper info to began with.

Hi Christy,
I'm going to respond and I'll make sure to have Christy (AC4H) provide a commentary as well (she's very busy today)-
Myself and another rescue colleague of mine are doing the task of ottbs for Christy/AC4H (the TB Division). You and I have spoke in the past and I'm certain you'll understand when I say that we do work with trainers/owners directly on the backside. We do our very best to assist as many as we can to divert them being taken to the sales, and we're not the only ones. Got a spot for a horse that a trainer phoned me about last week- he'll be picked up today- thus diverting the possibility of auction/sale. The problem we run into (and I'm sure you'll understand this) is that often times trainers/owners need horses gone 'like yesterday', and the rescues and resources we have to draw from are limited- most rescues are full or past capacity. Makes it pretty rough for those of us involved in transitioning horses off the backside when we get a call and hear 'I need him/her gone now'.
The filly was offered through the New Holland auction sale, her only bidders were meat contract buyers- thus the reason why Christy secured her and prevented her from shipping to slaughter. As far as identification- TB's are saved ir-regardless of whether they're tattoed or not- doesn't make a difference. In this instance, this is a young filly, sound and perfectly capable of transitioning into a productive and useful life.
Unfortunately, the colt from yesterday, was dropped off in the direct to slaughter pen- this is a private area where the horses are NOT offered to the public AT ALL. They have NO opportunity of a private purchase- they're tagged to go directly to kill.
All the TB's that are saved, and those with tattoos are carefully examined and the research done very thorougly to always ensure correct and accurate information (this is what I choose to do myself personally to provide assistance to these TB's). And anyone that knows me (and quite alot do), knows that I would never risk mis-identifying any horse. It's imperative to all of us that we ensure correct identification. If there is ever, any chance that a tattoo is unreadable/not legible, and we do get some that fit that situation, we do not announce any registered name, period.
Christy- is there something that stimulated your questioning of whether or not we work with trainers on the backside that prompted your inquiry? Anything in particular? Please, don't hesitate to reach me, I'm available and it's been quite a while since we've spoke. Shoot me an email. I've taken no offense to your question.
