Jazil and Island Key 2010 Foal..Racing Partnership

Postby Jazil/Island-Key2010 » Sat Jul 05, 2008 9:26 am

I am wanting to start a possible racing partnership of a foal. The breeding will take place in 2009 and so the foal would be born in 2010. I will need money first as all money is going towards the stud fee and lease of the mare. This is bound to be a a GREAT race horse with a GREAT pedigree. I am selling 12 5% shares for $3200 each. I need buyers and money before the breeding can take place. The mare being used was Undefeated as a race horse. The Stallion I would use won the Belmont Stakes. This is a GREAT investment that your bound to make $$$ on. Please send all e-mails to [email protected]

Thanks!

If all the $$ is going to the stud fee and mare lease, who is covering the expenses of breeding, boarding, insurance, raising the foal, registrations ect?

Venture Capital for a breeder. However, I don't think the word "investment" applies as much a "potential scam."

If the mare you are planning on using is Island Key then I don't think you can claim she was undefeated.

I think the "all the $$ is going to stud fee and mare lease" is a bit of an exaggeration. Jazil's stud fee is $12,500 so if all 12 shares sold for $3,200 there would be over 25,000 left after paying the stud fee. While I'm not sure exactly how much it is to lease/board the mare in question, I would take a guess that there would be a bit left over for expenses.

That mare, according to the database, made 19 starts, 5 wins, 4 places for about $12k in earnings. Most have run in real cheap claimers.

Would she, do you think, be accepted into Jazil's book?

Anyone else have an inkling that this might be another "Afleet Alex" persona? Looking at the email address it has 92 so this person maybe 16yr old having some fun and hoping some (12) fools take them up on it.

Sorry I was told by the owner of the mare she was undefeated she must have miss-understood what the people that owned her during her racing said none the less she should still produce a nice foal with Jazil. The money would actually be going towards evereything. mare care, mare lease, the breeding, insurance, registration, etc. I will talk to her owner about the her saying she was undefeated though. E-mail me if your intrested.

Thanks!

So you are toated a mare you have not done your research on, and going by what someone says about breeding her to a stallion. What is so special about Jazil the owner sees a incredible match with this mare?
Do you have a business plan laid out? Do you have legal contracts? Is this a breed to sell or a breed to race partnership? Who makes majority decisions? Will the breeding still take place IF you only get a couple investors? Honestly what is there to gain by this partnership?

I think a lot of our mares should go to Smart Strike... Anyone got any cash?

2002 Island Key,B,f,Star Programmer 2 19 5 4 0 11,875 ( 73)

Where in the world does a horse win 5 races and earn $11,875?

And you certainly dont need money "now" to breed a mare in 2009. You likely can negotiate a contract on a Stand and Nurse basis, so you don't need your stud fee until the Spring of 2010.

Its certainly fun to dream, but its better to get money for a partnership for horses that you can actually see, rather than one that won't even be born for another 2 years.

Hi Gerry,

I had the SAME thought as soon as I read "I am wanting" (Alex used the same phrase). There's a little more maturity, a little more planning but the same cadence and thought pattern as Alex. Ergo, I say it's Alex.

Jazil/Alex,

Verify everything that you're told before repeating it, especially to prospective clients. Island Key was a competitive but in races where her average purse was only $3,000.

More important (especially with this stallion) is what she looks like? Jazil is small. What are her conformation faults?

Mehile,

The proposal is for 8 shares, not 12, so the total revenue is about $25k.

Suprisewind,

You make a good point (the mare must be approved) but I'd have to believe that she would be (approved).

Regards,

Pete
