*CREIGHTON
*CREIGHTON, said to be an imported Thoroughbred, purchased by Hancock McClung Johnston of Los Angeles, CA. in the late 1800's. He was used in a Standardbred breeding program. Does anyone have his pedigree...am also looking for his color and foal year. I think I've found a photo of him, its a right side view, showing a half-stocking left hind . Thanks, Pat

Hi Pat, I can't find any rcd. for a Creighton, but it may be a spelling variant of Crighton (aka: Crichton) ASB 7:1130, 1889 ch h x Clieveden - Ghinni Ghinni x Barbarian, bred by James Lee N.S.W., owned by A.B. Spreckels, San Francisco, CA.

Did Crighton (Crichton) produce a filly named ARMIDA? She would have been out of the L.J. Rose mare named CAMILLA URSOC. ARMIDA was later sold to Lucky Baldwin when he entered the racing game, was sent east with Baldwins string and won a number of races. per L.J. Rose book.
I may have found a photo of this stallion

Camilla Urso's 1877 b f Armada was sired by an earlier domestic model Crichton 1858 ch h x *Glencoe - Sister to Tangent x Wagner.

Obviously imported Crighton could not have sired Armada since she was 12 yrs his senior.
Creighton
Just adding my 2 cents.
In book L.J. Rose of Sunny Slope, pg 112, "father bred Camilla Urso to imported Creighton, this produce was the filly Armida"
pg 141, "Mr Hancock M. Johnston....embarked in the breeding of trotters. Purchasing ...the thoroughbred imported Creighton...."
pg 166, "The horse was bred by Hancock Johnston, Los Angeles...blending the blood of W.W. Richmond out of a mare by imported Creighton.
Sorry no mention of breeding. No dates.
