Thanks. We tried to get him in the 7 furlong MSW on 12/31/08 but he came in second alternate.. I'm pretty sure he's going to be a classic and we'll wait for a 6 1/2 ot 7 furlong next time.

If that race last night had been a 5 1/2 he would have been second. However nothing could have caught Gabriel's Smile who won by 10+ lengths.. 4 1/2 in 51+ is fast for CTown.

I had him boxed with 2,3,& 10. However, I also did a progressive win, place, show and almost broke even, which is good for me.

I think Natasha did a pretty good job and they made up a lot of ground when she made her move in the turn. They ran a similar race on 12/07 in another 4 1/2 MSW where they came in 4 th. Again, we will now wait for a 6 1/2 or 7 furlong MSW.

I have another 3 YO Civilisation with Rofe that has not ran yet.. Last month Hotel Sierra had a stone bruse and now we need to do some laser surgery on his palate. He also looks like a classic but we'll probably run him at 4 1/2 a couple of times first, assuming he doesn't come up with another delay. That sucker's been in training since the 4th of July plus 45 days in February. I like to give my horses plenty of time to mature but Hotel Sierra is starting to push the envelope.

Hello Griff:

I don't know about the classic. He's a long way from that. Hopefully you can first break his maiden which will be for a WV tag. If all goes well this year the straight 3yo WV bred classic winner will be won by Russell Road.

I agree this gelding has a long way to go before he'll be a threat in the WV Classics. Maybe in 2010.

Actually I was talking about him being a 7,8,9 furlong horse rather than 4 1/2 furlong horse. Both of his races thus far have been at 4 1/2 and we are going to try to get him in 6 1/2 MSW for WVBRED 3 YOs next week.

Damn, jainct!!

I looked up Russell Road and you have an awsome gelding there.. How about the WV Derby?? Can't continue to allow those Eastover Court geldings continue to dominate that race.

I don't know about the WV DERBY (750K) but anything is possible. I would think he's going to be tough against his own kind (wv breds).

You will probably need to stick with the 6.5F and 7F races at CT. They don't run 1 miles races but they do run 8.5F and 9.0. The problem with the long distance races at CT is, they really don't write many WV BRED races. Hopefully your horse will appreciate the added distance but MSW company might be a little too tough. I see you hit the AE for Thursday night and still have a chance to draw in. If you don't draw in for Thurday, I would imagine you will heading to the next WV Bred MSW on the 29th going 7.0. If you run on the 29th of JAN you will have to beat a horse by the name of HE'S COMING AROUND. Anyway, I wish you do well with Civil. By the way, I believe Jean Rolf's best WV BRED would be PAGAN CAT.

Early last year I had trouble getting in WVBRED races because there were not enough applicants.. This year I am drawing an AE ever other time I apply.. I believe they are running two WVBRED races almost every meeting.

I have no problem accepting a second or third in these WVBRED MSWs as eventually the field will get down to something we can beat. And then we have to start running against winners.

I'm told Civilisation get mature late and maybe mine will continue to improve as they gain experience and maturity
