training farm recommendations in NC/VA?

Postby vaponydoc » Fri Aug 06, 2010 1:27 pm

Hi,

I am starting to look for a farm to get my two year old started and wonder if anyone has recommendations in Virginia or North Carolina. I know of many options but am looking for more personal insight.

I would consider Maryland as well, just further away.

Thanks!

Perhaps it's too far away for you but we use Webb Carroll Training Center in St. Matthews, SC and we've been very pleased with everything they've done.

I know a horse whisper that will start your horse very gently, and thoroughly in 4 weeks or less but he will not work them at speed..

I'm taking all mt 2 YO to him for the first 30 days and them to a track trainer.. He's located in SE Maryland and he is the best I have ever seen.

Good reputation. A very nice article on it and owner Sam Maloney was done in the Maryland TB Magazine a number of years back. As I recall, she did a lot of preps for Doug Fout and his late father. Doug Fout is successfully involved in both chase and flat racing. The farm is near Warrenton, VA just off U. S. Route 29.

Not sure if the farm below does prep, but Tara Terrence has been successful w/racehorses owned by a friend. The farm is near Richmond.
