More Than Ready

Seems like every time I look up one of his babies is winning a BC race. How's he doing otherwise??

He does have the ability to sire winners doesn't he? Personally, I am hoping he does a good a job as a broodmare sire 8) . I have a mare by him who is in foal to Grindstone.

He's currently #8 on the General Sires List with 13 stakes winners, 20 stakes wins (including today's) for the year. After Pluck's victory in the BC Juvy Turf, More Than Ready will probably move up a spot tomorrow. :)

So do you think his stud fee will go up?

Probably will, but should stay the same anyway.

We have a nice little MTR filly in training named Little Honor. Not very big but she has won the last 2 schooling races here. She thinks she is THE fastest thing around and we won't dare tell her otherwise. ;)

How do other people like their MTRs? What is the average size - do we just happen to have a petite one? Her broodmare sire line is Honor Grades - Hold Your Peace - Secretariat, all decent sized individuals as far as I know. She is just a 2 yo filly so she still has time to grow yet.

The foals by the son of Southern Halo we had depended on their gender. The colts followed the sire in size and looks, the fillies followed their dams. They so far, have followed similiarly to the mares race distances. Sprint mares = sprint babies, route mares = route babies.I think they just need some time to develop.

I am excited to see the size of the babies we have in '11. The sire is a son of Halo, and a carbon copy of Halo's build. Hoping to add that bone structure and depth to the mares' size, should be a good thing.

Glad MTR is doing so well... obviously I like the breeding on the top side.

Many of the More Than Readys don't have a lot of physical size. But they often have an abundance of talent and heart which more than compensates. We've had one so far, which we loved--he definitely knew he was All That. :D
