Tattoo help

Postby Hops » Sun Mar 27, 2011 11:08 am

We are fostering a rescued mare & foal and would love to find out who she is.

Tattoo looks like J 4-1-2-5. There isn't anything following the last digit, though there COULD have once been something before the first digit/letter. It was not known if she was a QH or TB, though she looks much more like a TB. If she IS a QH, then I suppose the last 5 could be an S.

Chestnut. Star & connected stripe ending between nostrils. Pastern white on the left hind. I forgot to look at her cowlicks. Unsure of age, but she isn't ancient.

Any possibilities you can come up with are much appreciated!

If it really is a J, and she is a TB, then she was born in 2006.

The jockey club now has free online tattoo research. It is free to sign up. But I put in the particulars for your mare as you have them and there was no match.

It's not a QH. A Quarter Horse tattoo has four or five numbers followed by a letter.
