Possibly a new DW line??

Man! What a really bad photo. He actually might have a great hip - it's the entirely wrong angle. Can't really tell but his neck looks really weedy.

You can't tell much from his photo and he isn't exactly muscle fit either, I think he's better looking than these photos could ever indicate. the 2 is supposed to mean he's cool and calm, a 10 would be hot hot hot. I think he is bay too.

Maybe these are photos of him somewhat younger than his present age. The neck just doesn't look like it belongs to a colt of (presumably) 3 years, because of the season.

I've asked if they can stand him up better in the sunshine, so I'll post here if they email one to me. They also said they would see what his red/black/agouti will be, so will be nice to see what he turns out. Fun to find out about him anyways, they sure don't come out colored like
this very often.

Looks like they used his registration photos for marketing him which did him no good at all...........
his shoulder angle looks very good in the second photo, maybe he can move well? Should be interesting
to see if they can stand him up better.

While I think he's DW too, what is the possibility that his dam is not registered correctly? She's (the dam) has one gray parent.

That's a great point, maybe she was registered dark bay or black, because she had not started to shed into her slate grey or lighter grey outer wear yet.........

He really doesn't look grey at all. It's possible of course if the dam was registered incorrectly but that isn't that common, it happens but it isn't that common.

New info emailed today from the owner quoted below. She has sent DNA off on him, and will be getting new photos of him in the sun this week.

she said, "He was red when he was born, his dam is a dark brown as is the sire. When I look closely at him, I do see chestnut."

Yeah he still looks bay. He looks very much like the DW Clydes that are so dilute it is still hard to tell what they are even as adults! I bet he was a surprise!

'Why do you guys think he's a bay? It looks like his front legs are lighter than his base coat color. (legs above the high white) Isn't that typical of a chestnut?

Not arguing, just want to educate my eye.

Bay foals often will not have black legs, but a buff/silver color. His tail is far too dark (and his coat too burgundy toned IMO) to be chestnut.

I agree that that pic does it's best to make the horse look his worst! He could be better -- or not.

OTOH, he's definitely from different bloodlines than most of the DWs/sabinos/rabicanos that are producing loud colored TBs these days.

Finally, he has a gray grandparent on his dam's side, so maybe his dam was mis-registered. Then again, maybe they tried to register him as a roan, so he becomes "gr/ro" on his papers.
