Hi Karen,
Cool, but it could be confusing....I had to look twice the first time I saw that:>) TJ

Well, I thought it was a fantastic day. I think Wise Dan's win (a record breaker!) puts him in the front for HOY. He is one cool horse.

I am curious about the Lasix debate now. I mean, it didn't really appear to make any impact on the Juvenile, or did it. Thoughts?

And I enjoyed the discussion and hearing your choices, TJ and bdw. Kept me busy at work, on a day when I would have rather been there.

I don't know if they discussed this much, but the dam of George Vancouver, Versailles Treaty, wasn't she part of a Phipps cull?

Hi Cree,
Versailles Treaty was not a cull. She was sold in 2008 due to the unfortunate death of her owner, breeder, Cynthia Phipps....who died in an apartment fire in NYC in 2007.
She owned Saarland, who is also from Versailles Treaty...who she raced in her gold and purple silks. Don't confuse this outfit with her brother "Dinny" Phipps who races in the famous cherry and black silks of the Phipps Stable (Point of Entry). TJ

My mistake. For some reason I thought Versailles Treaty had been a cull, a fertility issue. Probably thinking of another mare, another breeder....

Side note: my OTTB raced against Saarland in the G2 Remsen.

there was a comment that Beholder had blood coming out of her nostrils. Is it fairly irrelevant even if none off them bled? That's entirely possible in any single race particularly for those that never ran a jump or were only medium pressed by their jocks. The Q is over 10 races what happens, and, that any one of those races could be the beginning of EIPH for a great young horse???

Oh, he would be the idiot that stumbled at the start and didn't run a lick.... He wasn't ever a stakes horse, but he did win at 2 miles and an eighth and a mile and a half, raced 76 times and retired sound.

He's a lovely mover and would've made a great eventing horse if he wasn't born to race.

Hi Cree,
Thanks for his name...I remember that horse, he turned into a hard knocking claimer. Went through a couple of allowance conditions and did well in Starter races. Glad to hear he's well. TJ

Hi Ratherrapid,
Where did you hear that Beholder had blood coming from her nostrils? I do hope she didn't bleed from her nostrils all ready...she is such a nice filly. There is no doubt horseman of all nations know the benefit of lasix...all but 3 Euro shipper's ran with lasix other than the 2YO races. TJ

DRF comment on Beholder. Unknown if it's true.

Capo Bastone, Monument, and Spring in the Air are the Juveniles to have reportedly bled (DRF article).
The Beholder bled comment is below that article. They "thought" she bled.

i believe the best thing about the event is that Fort Larned, Royal Delta, Wise Dan, Animal Kingdom are all coming back next year. that's really good news.
