Pastoral Pursuits wins at 22-1.

Avonbridge finished second, and three-year-old Etlaala was third.

Siegy, could you post a brief explanation of these ratings I see you post from time to time?

They seem interesting, but I am a little lost...

hi illbred,

the numbers are the % of the dosage profile from mares from the past,
ie, 72 of them i, posted them, i, go back from the first two generations of the pedigreee.
until i, find all 6 of them, 3 for the top male - line
3 for the bottom female - line
the % of the blood is listed, combining the 3 on top also the 3 on bottom
give me a value for male and female which i, then make a dosage to mr. stevens roman profile and formula. this gives you a di and a cd.
those two numbers can be converted into a %.

since there are 64 numbers possible 16 first 16nd 16rd 164th generation.
i, go from 1-to 64 and visa versa from 64 -to 1
take the calculator and you find 6250% and -98.. or -100%
his is the range all thoroubred fall into.
so you have a scale to go by, and now you compare apples and oranges,
i, basically now who is the best horse by blood in the race.
the you have to handicape form and all the other angles,
this is short all that is done,

Regar's Siegy,

i, use the % decrease or increase cal of two numbers to get a % answer,
somtimes forget to set and the you will get diffrences in %.
also rounding up or down will effect the value,
but the general direction is a clear indicator of speed or stamina,
the higher the more speed
lower more stamina,

siegy - Sorry I'm just now seeing this and many thanks for thinking of me and sharing your insights. I'm kind of with you on the 'perfect gray' thing though the sight of one always makes my heart 'skip a way'
