TB information Help

Postby Laci » Sat Nov 05, 2005 1:08 pm

I recently bought a TB Gelding (at the beginning of this year) and was told that he was infact papered, and that we would get his papers when he was shipped to us. Well, we got him- and no papers (except for coggins and health papers). We called the previous owners, and were told a dozen times that his papers would be sent to us. However, that has not happened. So, I went through the Jockey Club and their tattoo research. I got the papers today, and would be interested in what tracks this horse has run at.

He's had 2 starts, and both of the races look as though they were claims races. The number for both of the tracks is LS 3. Also, I'd like to know if there was anyway that I could get a duplicate of his papers? I know that you can, however, the previous owners refuse to help in this (as they claimed to have his papers).

Thanks in advance!

Laci,

The LS would stand for Lone Star which is in Grand Prairie, Texas. You can get a duplicate set of papers by going through the Jockey Club. The cost is $200. You will have to provide photos, a hair sample, and a statement as to what happened to his papers. You can get all the forms you need by calling the Jockey Club. Congrats on your purchase :D

Thanks! :D

I thought that's what it stood for...but I wasn't entirely sure. If LS stands for Lone Star, then what does the 3 stand for?

I would imagine that would be the race number. :D

Thanks again!

Now, would there be anyway of seeing what he'd done? I looked on their site, but didn't see anything. I'm just wanting to see why it was that whoever owned this horse, when he raced was given up on. His name is Sunny's Britches (Though, I named him H before getting what I did).

If he raced in 2005, you can go to Image and click on race replays. It will prompt you to set up an account which is free and then you can log in and search for his races using his name. :D

Noticed he's a Sunny's Halo. Is he flashy?

He raced twice

May 26 of 2001 finished 10th of 12 horses at Lone Star (3rd race)

May 5 of 2002 finished 14th of 14 horses at Lone Star (3rd race)

at least you know...

Maybe the life you've given him is something far more ideal for his equinality !!

Thanks for the information!

And yes, he is pretty. :D

I'm thinking of training him for barrel racing. I've already got a barrel horse, but she's really not fast enough. So that's what I had bought him for. I just hope it works out.

Actually, you cannot get duplicate papers if the original papers are still in existence. If they keep telling you that you can have the papers, maybe you should try to collect them in person... although I don't really know what good they do you for a gelding. His lip tattoo is proof of registration.

The thing is, he was sold to me, with papers. But when he was hauled here, the only papers that he had delivered with him, was his coggins and health paper. I've contacted them (the previous owners) numerous times, to have them send the papers. Each time I was told that they would. And I still have not gotten them. This last time that I called them, they refused to talk to me.

With this in mind, how can I obtain his papers, when the previous owners refuse to send them, even though, they said that they would send them with the horse?
