Press Camp part of tough crew

ALBANY, Calif. - Three stakes winners - an import coming off a 14 3/4-length victory, a nine-length winner with a Beyer Speed Figure of 104, and one of the top 3-year-old prospects in northern California - will meet in the $40,000 Tiburon overnight stakes on Thursday at Bay Meadows.
"I was surprised how tough it came up," said trainer Billy Morey, whose Press Camp, coming off a sizzling 104 Beyer Figure effort, is one of the reasons the race is so tough.
Though she is the lightest-raced in the group with only two starts, Victorina is the one to beat for trainer Greg Gilchrist and owner Harry Aleo.
She ran faster in her debut at Santa Rosa than multiple stakes winner Cause to Believe did later in the day when he won the Cavonnier Juvenile Stakes. In her second start, Victorina made a left-hand turn out of the gate and spotted the rest of the field nearly five lengths, but she quickly recovered and won by five.
"It would have been better if she'd been left in the gate," Gilchrist said. "At least she would have been running forward then."
Victorina came down with a mild virus in the fall but has trained well and has been ready to run for several weeks.
Trainer Jeff Bonde is sending out the entry of Cinderella Liberty, who won a pair of stakes in Washington last summer, and Devons Smokin, winner of the $125,000 CTBA Stakes at Del Mar and the pacesetter in the Sunshine Millions Oaks off a six-month layoff.
"She needed the race," Bonde said of Devons Smokin's Sunshine Millions effort. She was third at the eighth pole but ended up ninth, beaten 11 1/2 lengths. "We probably went into it a work early. She went too fast early and got tired. She does better stalking."
Country Vision will be making her first start since defeating Sierra Sweetie in the Solano County Juvenile Filly Stakes at Solano last July 24. Sierra Sweetie just won the $100,000 California Breeders' Cup Oaks on Saturday. Trainer Ed Moger Jr. said Country Vision is training well.
The Jeff Mullins-trained Princess Patricia was third in a stakes in her debut, then aired in a pair of starts at Sunland Park. She seems to be improving.
Press Camp has won twice since moving to Morey's barn. She was ninth in the California Breeders' Championship but was a close second at the six-furlong mark of that seven-furlong race.
"I think she can handle the step up," Morey said. "The day she broke her maiden here and that last race at Bay Meadows, she just extended and ran away from those fillies in the stretch. She does it so easily, it's scary."

Just read the results on Press Camp. Congratulations, yet again. Darn nice filly you got there. 
I would rather Devons Smokin would have finished second in that one, but at least she ran 3rd. Pretty nice filly herself, and since I have two by Devon Lane due in the next month or two, I kinda had to root for her, too!

Just read the results on Press Camp. Congratulations, yet again. Darn nice filly you got there.
I would rather Devons Smokin would have finished second in that one, but at least she ran 3rd. Pretty nice filly herself, and since I have two by Devon Lane due in the next month or two, I kinda had to root for her, too!
