| Owner: Burwell Wilkes Breeder: Edward Dennis State Bred: VA
A celebrated 4 mile horse
Won a two mile race at Petersburg in 3 miles 43 seconds, still the fastest time in America in 1829
1806 to 1808 - 11 consecutive easy victories, including 8 x 4m heats Jockey Club Purses
This is the original pedigree given by Burwell Wilkes of Brunswick Co., VA. It differs from the implausible pedigree presented by Edgar and then copied in other studbooks, which ends with a plow horse. Hervey notes that this sparked a bitter dispute that "stopped only just short of bloodshed, and provoked enmities...which endured for generations."
He sired a few mares which bred on successfully, with good racehorses among their descendants
Died 22 January 1833, aged 30
