A mare named Mary Grey established an American maternal line of [probably] Family 2 that survived until the 1950s, although uncertainty surrounds her pedigree. One researcher, Skinner in 1832, proposed that Mary Grey was a daughter of Roundhead out of Ringbone. This was adopted by Bruce for the American Stud Book in 1873, well over one hundred and thirty years after her birth.
Mary Gray is ancestress of top class racehorse Himyar (winner of 14 races, 2nd 1878 Kentucky Derby, Leading Sire 1893, sire of the superb sprinter Domino)
