1858: won Doswell Stk. at Fairfield, Newmarket Stk. at Petersburg. 1859: won Great Post Stk. (4-mile heats) at Metairie Course, New Orleans. 1860: won gross $17,500 (net $12,500) 4-mile heats race at Fashion Course, New York. In torrential rain, Daniel Boone paid forfeit $2,500, Planet and Congaree ran. Planet won the 1st heat, clocked 7:39 and distanced. Congaree was disqualified.
Almost killed by falling tree being cut at stud for Alexander in 1873. His handler Graham was killed when he ignored pleas of the treemen to avoid the area. (NY Times Mar.1873)
