Sold to Dwyers for $20k as juvenile; proved ill-suited to Dwyers’ hard & frequent style of racing (Morris indicated he was apprehensive of this, but for their mutual friendship). Generally ranked the co-champion 3yo male of 1888 in the USA with Emperor of Norfolk. Sir Dixon retired to Clay & Woodford's Runnymede Farm and was the U. S. Leading Sire in 1901. Broke a hip in paddock accident March 23, 1909, and was humanely destroyed.
