He was said to have been presented to a British frigate captain by a son of the Emperor of Morocco. As part of their journey, the ship carried him to the West Indies, where he broke three of his legs jumping off a pile of lumber, despite which he was said to be of perfect form and symmetry which he passed on to his offspring. He landed in Connecticut in 1766.
Stood by James Howard at stud at Windham, CT, in spring of 1778, after he purchased him downstream from Col. Wyllys, according to a newspaper ad (there was at least one intermediate owner). In 19 March 1779 edition of Virginia Gazette his services were advertised by Lindsay, who lived 2 miles from Port Royal, VA.
