MAHUBAH "may good things be with
you" had an excessively nervous disposition inherited from her sire ROCK SAND
Described by her trainer, Sam Hildreth, as a speedy filly, but excessively nervous so she was retired after her maiden win and sent to Kentucky Nursery Stud in Lexington for broodmare duty.
DRF 1913: Note that she was to be retired after Pimlico meeting and bred to WATERVALE.
1912: 2nd LRL race (debut 10/10)
unplaced Piping Rock (10/19) & LRL (10/28) races
1913: won PIM race (maiden 5/8; HOF jockey Jimmy Butwell)
unplaced PIM race (5/13)
MAHUBAH produced five foals but was barren after 1921
he was best known for her son MAN O' WAR but also produced stakes winners MY PLAY & MASDA and like MAN O' WAR both met with success in the breeding shed. MAHUBAH died in 1931, age 21, and was buried next to Fair Play at Elmendorf Farm. She was often referred to as "Fair Play's wife" as he was the only stallion she was ever bred to.
