A bold commitment such as this should be commended.

I'm with you Spex. Folks I've encountered with grandiose views of people out to get them usually fall under the paranoid schizophrenic category.

Why are all of you jumping on Jones, his record speaks for itself. One supicious positive in a life time should say something.

I'm definitely not jumping on Jones. I just wish he'd clarify that statement a bit.

To imply sabotage is the reason for a bad test, IMO, is way over the top. What is the motivation for covertly planting clenbuterol into his horse's system? Eight Belles death? Your going to sneak into Jones barn and plant Clenbuterol on one of his horses entered to cast doubt on Jones assertion that Eight Belles was clean?

It is far more likely there was human error emanating from his barn or the test lab than sabotage..

Good point. Why Clenbuterol is you want to discredit someone? Planting Morphine I could see but not Clenbuterol. It makes no sense from that perspective.

Put yourself in his boots and how paranoid would you be? What if he does not use clenbuterol, what if his owners are being courted, by another trainer, what if he fired someone lately, what if some idiot blames him for eight belles, what if some owner changed to him from another trainer, what ifs, on the backside are very real. I feel that Jones does take the blame for eight belles and that is a heavy burden. Clenbuterol is one help that lends itself to positive test if you push the 96 hour rule for it in slow metabolising horses.

remember the mare with the sponge

Postby francesca » Tue Jun 24, 2008 9:56 am

He thinks someone is out to get him because of the horse with the sponge in its nose earlier in the year (the filly). The horse who supposedly tested positive belonged to Jim Squires (breeder of Monarchos) who has spoken and written openly about opposing drugs in horses being raced. His horses have always tested clean so it is very odd.

Sabotage happens. Perfect, longstanding records for Mr. Jones and Mr. Squires should count for something.
