Free At Last is probably the best value in the state.

We have decided to stand Trail City for $1,200 Live Foal. We think this will be a great value for breeders in the NW. We will offer 10 free breedings to approved mares to encourage breeders since we are bringing him in so late.

Washington state stallions

Top Account's 2007 fee will be Private with a live foal guarantee. His progeny earnings just went over $500.000.00 for 2006 and he has a daughter, Frosty Cupcake whose Wild Event colt, I'mawildandcrazyguy's earnings are just over $100,000.00 for 2006 as a 2 year old. It looks like he is going to be a nice broodmare sire too. Washington has some nice sires to choose from this coming year and for a change, they aren't all on the West side of the state.

PG29,
I saw Trail City 3 yrs ago and became a fan. He's gorgeous. Congrats on acquiring him and best of luck. Dumb question? He was a turf horse, aren't breeders looking for turf sires with all the new track surfaces being put in?

Diane,
I have heard about that with the synthetic surfaces but I think it is still to early to tell, but there are a lot more people in the know out there than me on this subject. As for Trail City he did most all his earnings on the Turf yet his foals are doing it on all surfaces. About 1.2 million of his 1.4+ million have come on the dirt. Versitility is what you will get I am confident with that. Go to Allaire Farms new website and check him out http://www.allairefarms.com

Trail City is currently ranked 6th for 2007 earnings in Washington.
After my visit to Poulsbo, I booked 2 mares to him. He is a very
impressive addition ! he has Excellent bone and a dynamic personality.

I've worked with a few Trail City's and they were big, athletic horses with a ton of bone. They had nice big walks and were just gorgeous.
What's his temperment like? Two of my favourite Trail City's I worked with were level headed, but a couple were a little...umm, wired.

wa stallions

Postby tbrace » Sun Feb 18, 2007 3:13 pm

A state's stallion roster is a product of that state's mare quality. Given the fact that many of the WA stallions are, well, good candidates for sex change operations, why doesn't Washington promote a breeders incentive fund that encourages new mare blood?

Also, the Washington yearling sale is clearly designed for insiders. One has to be a WTBA member to even get a yearling's page approved, and to sell a yearling, the horse has to be at least 50% owned by one who resides in the Northwest , etc.

All these exclusionary policies have led to Washington being an island unto itself in the TB world, and has led to declining TB numbers and lower quality horses.

Is someone reading the writing on the wall?

Thank you Tbrace ! very well said !

It is frustrating. we keep writing on the wall, and the insiders keep erasing it........

I just wanted to offer my condolences to Greg (PG39) on the passing of Polish Gift. He was an absolutely gorgeous individual. I hope his babies (one in particular) run to PG's looks.

I read that David Parks passed away today at 54. Sad news for his family and the Washington TB industry.
