Black mare with 4 whites and white face!!!

Postby Bondama » Mon Feb 26, 2007 1:28 pm

Here is a link to an ad for a black mare with 4 whites and a white face - man is she pretty! I think Donna at True Colours mentioned once she was looking for such a creature.......

Does anyone care to comment on her pedigree as it may relate to sport horse breeding? Can anyone tell where the sabino influence comes from?

Thanks for the kind words, she is my horse and any questions about her, just ask. But sport horse and color breeders would know more than I do.
I would also like to know where her color comes from! Her daddy was black, though. I was initially told about her by another trainer at the track where her trainer, Marty, had her. Everyone was amazed at her color. She really stands out.
I'm waiting for her coat to shed out before I take more pictures, she is quite the wooley bear.

Oooh, I know, isn't she pretty! I added her to the Black Thoroughbreds thread...
And yes, someone should mention it to Donna... I think you're right, Bondama... I seem to remember it, too.

Communicated with Donna - apparently, the horse doesn't come with papers. :( That's a biggie for some of us!!

Sure is a pretty mare, though!!

Postby tammysinnett » Tue Feb 27, 2007 10:50 am

it says on the add that papers were destroyed, so reapplying for copies does that affect the value of the horse???or does it affect breeding reqirements with some stallions?? Just wondered its me the question asker again....thanks Tammy

You need them for JC, AQHA, and any WB registry you want to apply to (unless you just want to present her to a lesser, we'll take any mare, registry). Also in order to get duplicates you have to have a bill of sale from the owner of record at the JC (I think). So unless they have a BOS from the last owner the JC has on record, getting papers would be difficult. As far as value, $5500 for no papers and no formal training in any one disclipline in todays market, not worth it. Unless she can get papers she is basically another grade horse. Of course there is always someone who may want her just because she is pretty(and she is!). JMO by the way.

I just reread the ad and she states she has the paperwork neccesary to get duplicates. The owner should invest the $200 and get those in hand and then advertise the mare. I mean if you are asking $5500 you should be willing to pay for the duplicates and have them ready for the new owner.

Um. No, you don't have to have a mare's registration papers to register her foals with the Jockey Club. HOWEVER. You DO have to have the mare's papers to register her with some of the state bred programs (like Indiana or Ohio). Or any of the other breeds -- warmblood, Arabian, Quarter Horse, etc., require a TB's mare's papers to register her offspring (Anglo-Arab, Appendix, etc.)
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

I spoke with her as well and she's working on it.

I am working on getting duplicate papers. I am willing to pay for the papers.
Donna said she wanted confirmation shots of her, and I said I would do that ASAP and then I didn't hear another word from her. So I figured she wasn't interested. She never asked me to get the duplicate papers, papers were not discussed.
So I listed her on Equine now.
Madelyn is correct, you do not need the papers to register with the JC.
