Isn't he pensioned?

Why are they trying to sell a breeding season to him on Starquine? That seems really weird.....

I don't recall an announcement regarding this. The last thing I remember was that he was hospitalized with colic, recovered and they were going to make a decision later about this breeding season.

I was a little confused about that too. I thought he had been pensioned, but the other day I noticed him on the Thoroughbred Times Stallion Register listed as having a private fee.

Checked w/ seller..he's still breeding. season is for 2007-live foal guarantee. He's at $3,100!!!! This is for a stallion last listed for $25,000! Darn it..wish i had't shipped my mare to FL. :-( He's an awesome sire....

Yes, too bad Pokeyman, Crafty Prospector is a very good sire. Wonder about the low price though.

One of our mares was bred to him last year. His schedule was very hard to work around; I believe they were only breeding once a day, only 2 or 3 days each week. I think this was due to declining fertility. (This is second hand info, someone else was handling getting the mare to him so I stayed out of that.) Anyway, long story short, she was covered once but didn't catch, then he coliced so we couldn't go back. It was disappointing... it would've been nice to get her in foal to him. I did think they were talking about pensioning even before the colic, though.

Well, I guess it does come with a LFG so you don't lose any money if you had bid...

Bummer though.

I hope he has a wonderful retirement, he deserves it.

Crafty Prospector and Runaway Groom so far this year, two oldies but goodies out of the market.
