Not For Love X Perfect Colours

Postby griff » Tue Mar 20, 2007 4:53 am

Not For Love is the full brother to the dam of Perfect Colours' sire [Accelerator] .

Is this a positive or a negative

I don't know what you are trying to achieve with the mating, so I can't comment on that. (I'm not being a snot here, please don't read the sentence that way.) The purpose of inbreeding/linebreeding is to pull out a particular trait. If you choose to deeply linebreed, then what is the goal you have in mind?

This mare looks interesting on paper for Monashee Mountain. His 3rd dam is the *Herbager mare The Garden Club, who has been an extremely important strain for Seattle Slew. He is a half to Mineshaft, Rock Slide and Tomisue's Delight and his dam is a half to Runup the Colors. The Garden Club also features in the pedigree of Lava Man. $7500 at Coolmore.

You could also get The Garden Club thru Jazz Club at Maryland Stallion station...

Very true.

For the relatively low increase in fee ($2500 to $7500) compared to Not For Love at $25,000, I like Monashee Mountain a lot better. He's improving his mares quite a bit, especially when you consider the mares he saw early in his career. I think he'll do even better in the US considering his pedigree complements the US mare base much more than the Euro mare base.

Conversely, for roughly the same price as Not For Love ($30,000), you can take her to Stormy Atlantic for an extended cross of that which produced Bluegrass Cat. He's one of the few stallions who is proven with linbreeding to Seattle Slew.

I appreciate the input. For a while I thought I needed to change my deodorant

I would be breeding this NFL to sell as a 2 YO in training and am concerned about breeding NOT FOR LOVE to his full siters grand daughter.

What do you think of PROSPECT BAY X PERFECT COLOURS ?? He was the number one stallion in Virginia and is now standing at NayLee farm in WV for $1,500 Stand and Nurse Live Foal.

I would probably have the mare deliver this Prospect Bay foal in PA and breed her back to Banker's Gold so I could race it as a WVSIRED and PABRED

Also, I'll certainlt look up the stallions you have suggested.

Again I ask what are you trying to achieve with deep linebreeding here? Prospect Bay is a very close relation to Accelerator's dam Get Lucky...he's Mr P (Crafty Prospector) over Northern Dancer (Danzig) over Buckpasser. Perfect Colours is already quite inbred, so a breeding to a near genetic sibling may not be what she needs. The more I think about it, the more I think she may need an outcross.

If you're going for the PA-bred market, Real Quiet is interesting with her as she has no In Reality. He's outcross except for Fappiano (with a Gr-1 winner who is 4x4 to Mr P). A mating with him would produce a foal whose sire is inbred and whose dam is inbred, but they are inbred to completely different strains. Marcel Boussac did this a lot with good success (see *Herbager).

For a good-value outcross sire in West Virginia that would meet your WV-sired, PA-bred criteria, love love love Meadow Monster and Prized. Especially Prized.

The MeadowLake connection is something I had not considered.. There is another Meadow Lake in WV named Luftikus that was never out of the money. How do you like him

Another out cross I'd consider is Limit Out who has 80% winners to starters and 16% stakes winners.

I'm not sure I agree that Prospect Bay would result in toojmuch in-breeding.. The 08 foal would be 3S X 4D to Mr. P and 4S X 5D to ND andtoo me that's a lot differient than breeding a stllion to his full sister's grandaughter. Also Prospect brings In Reality and Buckpasserr to the party and I like both.

Ther's also a Seattle Slew son in WV named Gennerside. Would you consider that too clsoe the the SS in Accelarator/A.P. Indy?

I'm breeding to race unless it's to NFL.
