Storm Cat/Country Romance colt

Postby Toccet02 » Wed Mar 28, 2007 10:22 am

Sorry, don't know hip #. was bought by West Point Thoroughbreds for $400,000.
Has a stupendous female family, in my opinion. Objectively, it's certainly LONG and full of winners!
I have a friend (no, that doesn't mean it's really me!) whose hubby is thinking of buying a share.
I'd greatly appreciate comments on the colt, from pedigree to confo, and any ideas as to why he "only" went to $400K.

Beautiful lookin' fellow from the picture.

The purchase price raises a flag for me. That said, it might pay to find out why the horse sold below the stud fee. Maybe there is a good reason, maybe there isn't. But the more info the better. If it was simple stuff, like minor OCD's or something, that would be interesting. Was it because of the breeze? What?

After that, they can make a better educated decision, IMHO. Best of luck to them!

Sorry to Nag, but the interested party is working today and I thought I'd gently nudge again for opinions.
C'mon Rokeby...you don't want to tear this colt apart?

I agree with dray. The relatively low purchase price for a Storm Cat that breezed in 10.1 would give me a lot of cause for concern. BTW, what is the West Point syndication price, knowing that they purchased the horse for $400K?

I have not inquired, and neither has my friend's husband, although he will and I'll let you know.
They don't post the share price anymore on the site, one has to contact them.

Update: My friends hubby did NOT purchase a share of this colt.
And the colt has had a flake removed from his knee, out till summer.

What can I say, Toccet? Storm Cat + nice family = flake in knee and out until the summer?

This one isn't as bad as the Storm Cat/Xtra Heat colt that worked in 10.1 and sold (NOT RNA!) for $150,000.

at least Mr. O shied away from this colt based on my suspicions....BEFORE the knee chip . . .did a good deed this year!
