The following is a game I play all the time. If you had a maximum of $50,000 to spend, what horse currently or recently running would you take a chance at developing as a regional market stallion? The scenario is based on a realistic chance at obtaining said horse for $50,000 or less.
My current fantasy protege is the horse Rushin To Altar. He's a graded stakes placed Pulpit stallion who last raced in November at Hollypark for $40,000.

Not sure if he could be bought for 50K but I saw Lovango in the flesh and he is a horse among horses. He came in second the day I saw him and followed with a win 4 weeks later.

Maven,
Indeed an impressive list. I don't follow unproven stallions coming off the track that closely but I watch regional sires for fun and try to guess which ones could be major break-through stallions if they had the opportunity. The female families interest me also. What I find interesting is when a sire gets a graded stakes winner out of his first handful of runners. Tragically so many of these sires never get a strong book of mares later on to see if they could have been major sires. For example, there is a stallion standing named Misnomer up in Canada. I am told he has cancer and not long to live. On of his first runners (he has only had about 8 runners) was Willow O Wisp, a multiple gII winner, track record setter, and man was he ever fast. Misnomer was also very fast judging from his race times, and has two close-up shots of Buckpasser. Could Misnomer have been THE Miswaki son at sire who could have been something special? Hard to know if he only has 8 runners. The sire Strategic Mission is similar, getting Showing Up from his first small group of runners, but at least he is getting enough mares now to see if there are more where Showing Upcame from. It is fun when racehorses come out of nowhere and we are all wondering who the heck is THAT sire...

Okay, Zinn, back to your interesting concept -
Ra Ra Superstar out of Deputy Minister? Not all that strong of a track performance (multiple allowance winner), but eerily related to Awesome again?
Serrazo out of Kris S? Full brother to You and I? Grade One placed on hurdles, allowance winner on dirt?
Sikorsky out of Deputy Minister? Out of the Best in Show dam family? Only ran once, but exciting pedigree...
