Hokie Hope Day- OT

Postby Roguelet » Thu Apr 19, 2007 4:34 pm

HOKIE HOPE DAY
Friday, April 20, has been declared Hokie Hope Day. Alumni across
the country are urging everyone -- Hokie or not -- to wear orange
and maroon in honor of those whose lives were lost on April 16
and in support of the victims' families and the university community.
Additionally, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has declared April 20 a
statewide day of mourning.

My condolences to all the Hokies. I will wear the colors tomorrow for support.

I don't have any of those colors to wear, but as a university professor myself I have gone into class every day this week reflecting on the sad events at Virginia Tech. I'll be thinking tomorrow of the dead, and of those who lived through the experience and will have to come to terms with it.

I work here on VT campus and I am a VT grad. The campus is all but deserted of students. Most faculty and staff are still here but the main campus is empty. It really doesn't seem real.

My Dad just called and said everyone where he works, everyone at the bank where he just made the company deposit, everyone he has seen anywhere today has on Maroon and Orange. He said he's never seen so much Maroon and Orange in his life. He's wearing one of the shirts I bought for him when I was attending Va Tech... always a joke between us because he went to Va Tech's rival school. But, today he's a Hokie too. I sent my Kindergartener to school today in Maroon and Orange; he may be the only Kindergartener in Indiana to know what's going on, but he's a Hokie today too.

If any of you are Hokies near Central Indiana, we're having a get-together tomorrow in Zionsville. PM me for time and exact location.

Thanks to all, Hokies or not, for your support.

On this day of remembrance please take time to sign, and forward, this petition, if you feel so inclined.

Thank you.

Consider it done...signed it! My thoughts and prayers are with the Hokie family!
