Arkidash? SP?

Postby Inyureye » Fri May 11, 2007 5:16 am

As a kid, my BO picked up a slim little bay OTTB from a camp and lo and behold this little guy was a superb show horse and jumper. His name was pronounced "Arkidash" but I really don't know how it was spelled. Could have beeh Archidash, Arcidash, R-kidash, but I wonder if anyone can come up with any lineage or race information or a spelling about him. Probably not - I am too clueless.

He might have been about 8 years old in the mid-seventies.

What is a BO?

I think you might be asking the impossible. What would help narrow down a search would be the year the horse was obtained, and its approximate age at that time.

I scanned the APR for horses' names starting with ARC, ARK, and ARQ for good measure....I didn't see any likely matches. :? Closest thing I found was a '72 model named 'Arcash'. Nothing under 'R -', either.

Quite a puzzle! Good luck!

Thanks, folks. Worth a shot. That's all I know. it was say 1974 or so, and the horse was an OTTB named Arkadash. who knows.

BO = Barn Owner. Thanks again.

Don't give up yet. Depending on the speaker's accent, the horse's name could have started with Orca- or Orchi- (Orchid Ash?), or even Auk- or Awk- or Auqu-. 'G' is the voiced version of 'K' and the two can be easily mistaken in speech. Maybe 'Argo-'? Or it might have been a multiple word name starting with 'Our'. So many possibilities.
