I think Ronnie Werner is the only guy that wears a bigger one, but what do you think of it?
I'd look like a moron wearing his hat. Do you think it does anything for him, or not?

It keeps the sun off
He's a throwback all right......even gallops his own stock since it better allows him to judge whether they're off or not. I bet he even spends a considerable amount of time under them as well. The sport needs more trainers like him and less guys who depend on the vet and excercise riders to make decisions.

That is a rather elitist NY attitude. I have known a lot of old men wearing overalls that were the best horsemen I have ever met ( a lot of them could pull a wad of money out of their bib that would scare some elitists).
And, yes some wore a hat.

would you have said that if you didn't know I was from NY, I wonder?
I don't have anything at all against cowboy hats. I don't think it looks "genuine" on him.
In NY we have thousands of folks sporting various "looks" that we see every day, and some look comfy in their own style, and some look like they are affecting a look that's NOT really them. Larry strikes me as one of those. naturally I could be wrong.

well I did say that I think of "wrong sport" when I see a T bred trainer wear one...perhaps "primitive" of me, but hey. I just think of quarter horses.
There used to be a great Country/Western bar around where I work (30's on the East side of Manhattan) called Denim & Diamonds. Was packed! So much for the elite NY-ers.
