Best decision he could have made. She's a legitimate Belmont Stakes filly.

I knew he'd duck Boca Grande.

This move is sooooo IDIOTIC!!!

Rags To Riches has had one race in the last 9 weeks or so and now she's got to run 1 1/2 mile against the boys? Good luck!

What does running in the Belmont do for her? She's already a well bred Grade I winner. Meanwhile, Boca Grande wins the Triple Tiara at Belmont. Shug must be laughing his head off.

The Coolmore clan really needs to be institutionalized. Between racing Dylan Thomas in the JCGC, racing George Washington in the BC Classic, running Circular Quay in the Preakness, and this move, there should really be a rubber room waiting for this bunch.

Maven - R2R looks good at 1 1/8th mile against Octave. You equate that to 1 1/2 mile against Curlin and High Spun? Can you pass the Petrone bottle? LOL!!!

considering that Tabor has stated time and time again that he isn't selling her and is keeping her once she is in retirement to bred to other horses... he has no reason NOT to run her in the belmont. I commend him. he has a horse that has a legit shot at winning, and he is trying ot take the last leg of the Belmont, because ovbiously Circular Quay can't.

He doen't have darley standing over his head with a 10 million dollar check telling him where and where not to run.

She does no worse than 2nd.

You just said it, she's ALREADY a GRADE 1 WINNER and has already assured herself as an amazing broodmare prospect. Regardless of what she does in the rest of her career, Coolmore owns a genetic masterpiece.

Now, with her pedigree and running style, she can be right there with the best of what the boys have to offer. Hard Spun has little to no chance, and the only two horses I see as the class of the Belmont is Rags and Curlin.

I have distance questions about Curlin. He'll obviously get it, but he wont be traveling fast in my opinion at the end. Tiago is bred to run all day but has not shown he's competitive against the best.

She deserves a chance. A win or placing in a Classic says a lot about her class.

People bash owners for lacking a "sporting" attitude, yet they run a very deserving filly against the boys in a Triple Crown race, and they're being institutionalized.

Fickle fans.

She beat those fillies with ease and wasn't asked to do much in the stretch. Put all your money on a tired Hard Spun and watch him run through quicksand in the stretch. Better odds for everyone else.

Maven, it was just so sporting of Coolmore to race Dylan Thomas against Bernardini. LMAO!!!

Life is good for Shug McGaughey. Boca Grande wins the Triple Tiara, Alabama, and it's on to the fall, while Rags To Riches chugs home fourth in the Belmont and misses the rest of the year.

One race in NINE weeks....yeah, Rags To Riches might be on the TV screen for a mile.

Why couldn't Alydar run this year? Grrrr!!!!

I know you have a chubby for everything Phipps, but do you really think Boca Grande would have put away Rags to Riches with ease?

the more I think about it the more I don't like Tiago. He will get the distance no question, but how fast will he be traveling... If he was that good hew ould have placed better than 7th in the derby..

The race is ran a little slower so it's not like it's going to be the exact same fractions as the derby and he is just going to get to make up that much more room.

Going back to my theory pre derby.. I threw out all the horses from the West cost (colts at least ) becuase not one has beaten anyone but themselves. Tiago has beaten Sam P in his career, and you want me to take him at 8 to 1 to beat Curlin hard spun and rags to riches? I'll pass

Rags to riches hadn't raced in about 8 weeks if not 9 when she romped int he Oaks.. her last race (which I saw live) was the SA Oaks.. which was nothing more than a paid exercise.

I am confused...I got the sense that the Belmont was not relevant unless you have the triple crown on the line...The real 3rd Classic was the Travers not Belmont...Nobody wants to run in the Belmont...A month ago..Pletcher had 5 horses in the Derby...now he is running a filly in the Belmont..I am sure the owners made the decision for him...

If placing in a Classic shows how much class you have...where are the rest of the 3YOs colts/geldings that raced in the KY Derby...Dont they need to show their "class"...
