It could be true, but you'd need his lifetime charts to know for sure. The APR gives the total record and number of years raced, but other than a horse's 2-year-old season it doesn't break the record down by year.
It indicated St. Malo Singer did not race at two, and that his record spanned five seasons....the earliest he could have retired was at age seven. If he didn't make his debut until age four, he took a year off at some point, or both, that could easily keep him on the track to age nine.
If you're really curious, sites like Brisnet & Equineline sell lifetime charts, usually for just a few dollars.
