What a treat for the Triple Crown Races huh?

Street Sense breaks the streak of the Juvenile winning the Derby.
Curlin wins as an unraced two year old in the Preakness (and placed in theother two races I might add convincingly)
AND A FILLY - RAGS TO RICHES wins the Belmont - first time in 102 years!

I think the TC races of 2007 will be ones to remember! May the rest of the season be just a memorable!

Congrats to all the connections! What a day - what a race!

Okay, people are making WAY too much of that. It's not like it's even ATTEMPTED that often.

And I'm going to smack the shit out of the next fool to start chanting "Girl Power."

I fear a Spice Girls revival.

:P Oh come on Sam - it is a big deal and no not many fillies run against the boys - so that makes it special even a little bit doesn't it

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the Spice Girls really are regrouping. Kid you not! haha

How about The Bangles? I'd give my left arm for 38 seconds with Susanna Hoffs!

Oh now see, that's just wrong.

I'm trying to remember who it is, either The Bangles or The Go-Gos, are here in Vegas the end of July.

Going back to racing, I'd think interesting to see RtoR race in a GRI, 1 and 1/2 mile turf race, like the Canadian International. (Not sure if that is still the name of the race)

I was actually thinking hte same thing earlier.. she isn't going to find any 12 Furlong races on the dirt or probably even the poly for that matter. They write them like 5 Furlong races on the grass however

I was thinking I'd like to see her carry equal weight with the boys next time out. That 5 pounds is close to the weight spread where I think it starts to be meaningful... She was all out to win getting 5lbs... I want to see her take on Curlin and Street Sense going 10f with all three carrying 126lbs.

There's nothing graded going 12f -- face it, the Belmont is an anachronism -- but there are a couple of cheap stakes over 10f and a couple of nice 10f stakes against the boys she could run in if that where their goal (which, I don't believe it is).

10 Furlongs:
Hollywood Gold Cup (G1)
Surburban Handicap (G1)
Delaware Handicap (G3) <--- $1m purse 15July @ Delaware Park for 3yo&^ -- that'd be tempting.
CCA Oaks (G1)
Alabama (G1)
Pacific Classic (G1)
Personal Ensign (G1)
Travers (G1)
Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1)

11 furlongs:
Only ones I see are up in Canada -- I'm sure they are restricted to CAN-breds (at least the two graded ones are) and neither of them have a purse worth considering making the trip for since they won't do anything for her record

12 furlongs -- Belmont is the only one

13 furlongs:
Gallant Fox at Aqueduct in December

14 furlongs:
Valedictory Stakes at Woodbine in December

Unless it is a handicap, I don't see her carrying equal or higher weights than the males. At weight for age races, or races for 3 years olds, females always get a weight allowance. I still think that long turf races are a good option.

I know that, that's my point. If she's good enough to beat the boys, she should be good enough to carry the same weight as the boys.
