Actually of the 8 stakes winners he's sired so far, 4 have been colts and 4 have been fillies. Street Sense is obviously a standout, but arguably his next best runner is G2 winner Street Sounds, a filly.

I'm talking allowence races and all, not just stakes. he actually has a REALLY good filly.

however I watch alot of races a day, and most of the good ones I see on the avg are colts. that's just my opinion, i can easily be wrong

hi madelyn

madelyn wrote:So while we are on the topic of Street Cry.. I have a lovely filly by him, but born April 28th this year (maybe a bit late).. would you be rushing this one to the November sale or waiting hoping for even more improvement in him as a sire?

I might suggest (and wouldn't be surprised if you agreed) that...the best time to sell is when the iron is hot.

Furthermore...there's NO Guarantee that Street Cry will be as hot a commodity (at the sales) in summer/fall 2008, as he's likely to be this summer/fall...nor is there a guarantee that your filly will be more appealing/impressive as a yearling than she is as a "lovely" (your word) foal...and there is NO Guarantee that she might not have an issue (physical or whatever) develop...that potentially might become/create a concern/obstacle.

On the flip side...if Street Cry backs up Street Sense with another of his caliber, and/or one or more first-croppers and/or second-croppers and/or third/croppers (2-yos of 2008) explodes on the scene and/or captures the imagination...and your filly progresses and seemingly gets better and better and more impressive by the day...well, then you MIGHT benefit by waiting. I say MIGHT...because (as you know) even when a sire is seemingly hot as a firecracker...some (if not many) by him still disappoint at the sales...much less ring-a-bell.

I say strongly consider offering your filly foal (by Street Cry) this fall/November. With that thought in mind...it might be interesting (if not worth your while) to contact Keeneland and get a sense what book they might place her in (if you're considering going that route).

Again, when the iron-is-hot and all things seem to be going in the right direction...why not go for it?

That said...if you're willing to deal with the additional potential downside risks...waiting might be your cup-of-tea. As you know...the iron MIGHT become hotter, but there are NO Guarantees.

Whatever your decision...I hope you ring-a-bell.

Respectfully

Great to hear... I think you've really got something going as Street Cry is proving himself as a sire. Is this your own foal or for a client?... just curious.

Express to Boston is my mare. I don't discuss my clients' horses in a public forum.. or anywhere else. I would be afraid of being shunned for letting cats out of bags. Besides, they make their own plans for their own horses. I have too many of my own to spend time worrying about theirs :D .
