Postby MareMc56 » Tue Jun 26, 2007 6:23 pm

This is Holly Sunset with her 2007 Saarland Colt...
she's a pro...I showed up and she left me with her
baby while she went off and munched some
bluegrass...well actually some dry grass...He
eventually left me to join her in the last picture...
please no comments on my posterior confirmation.

He's very, very handsome! Nice straight legs, too and a pretty bay color. Congratulations!

Thanks all...she is such a trooper...she has had some really nice babies...but some really bad luck...all her foals have been beautiful...two died before the should have...one to laminitis(Yo Adrienne 2YO) and one broke down(Storm at Sunset 3YO) on the lead at Delaware but with the wind in his mane and a smile in his eye...and took himself to the outside and I swear it was so he didn't hurt his rider Michelle Lutrell who he loved....then she had a stillborn and with a year off she produced this handsome young man who I think we are going to name Hussaar...Hussar is the European word for cavelryl(sp?) with a twist to Saarland...wish me luck...we're breeding him to race.

Nice looking colt - his proposed name is great and a clever/subtle play on his sire's name. Puts me in mind of Brigadier Gerard - his sire was "Queen's Hussar", the standard spelling. Good luck with him and your mare - what a terrible run of bad luck you've had with her.

Very nice colt. I tried for a Saarland this year but no luck, Cape Town instead. Oh well.

It's good to see that mine are not the only paddocks suffering from the drought!
