I want to stay in the under $5000 range but breed commercially if possible in the NY/PA midatlantic region

thoughts on these 2 mares for 2008

Griff---of course I bought the mares to breed to my stallions but I am not sure Meadaaar and Pleasant Colony are a good cross...I think maybe too turfy/distance?
Although I do think he is going to throw some very very nice foals in 2008.
Our stallion roster for 2008:
Meadaaar (Diesis-Katiba by Gulch)
Jelly Roll Romp (Runaway Groom - Winelight by Green Dancer)
Not A Corgi (Pembroke - Maxixe by Dauphin Fabuleux)
Dunsinyne (Kris S - Sweet Tri by Tri Jet)
so who would you choose for each mare and why?

I think there are two Mid Atlantic stalliosn with 2 YO sales averages greater than $100k and those are Not For Love with a $25k 07 fee and Siphon with a $5k 07 fee. Siphon is also a PABRED stallion.
There's also a hell of a stallion in WV [Limit Out] with 80.6% winners, 16% black type and 10% BTW. That stud also stands Prospect Bay who also has some good stats listed in the Mid Atlantix Thoroughbred.. The sales averages for these last two do not meet "commercial" criteria but I'm thinking they'll make that grade if they keep up the stats they now have. Both meet your less than $5k criteria.

Stallions I would consider
Hi!
I would consider Gators N Bears for both of your mares
Gators N Bears line breeding for I Forgot
Moccasin 5x5
Tom Rolfe 5x5
For Fiddler's Dream I would consider Hook and Ladder
I also think Siphon would cross well with both of your mares

OK so the Pleasant Colony mare is heading to Florida so there goes that great plan.
I Forgot's female line has been having foals selling in the upper 5 to low 6 digit range so she is the more commercial mare anyway. I have been thinking about Gators and Bears but am unsure about his commercial"ness"

Shameless plug . . .
Gerry, if you make it to the Shartlesville sale next weekend, stop by, say hello & pick up a flyer on Mountain Top. We can't claim commercial right now - his first foals hit the ground in 2008 - but at $3500 & standing in PA, he fills the other criteria.
If you are looking for a sprinter to fit the races being carded these days, Mountain Top [3rd in the Vosburgh the year Artax won it & the Eclipse] could be your pick - he's free of Native Dancer, so an outcross to Mr. Prospector & Northern Dancer mares.
His sire's 2nd dam is a full sister to Boldnesian, making the cross to Tell Capote interesting, to me, too.

I'll be in Shartlesville....and will definitely stop by.
My only concern is looking for a commercial"ish" stallion now. I have complete faith that Meadaaar and Not A Corgi are going to sire very nice foals but we breed out a few mares each year for commercial sales unfortunately this year we were taken by a farm with a very nice stallion in PA that didnt even breed the mare the 6 weeks she was there and when we got her home it was too late in the season. (Large farm, nice young stud...one upset share owner and mare owner!)
That being said, I do like Mountain Top for another of our mares..will see you next weekend! Today I am off to Presque Isle

Shartlesville
Yep - we do the same [one or two mares to hopefully commercial outside stallions each year].
Looking forward to seeing you at Shartlesville.

In NY, based on the criteria given I like Roaring Fever for Fiddler's Dream. He is commercial enough...I believe his numbers will be better in two years...and he fits the 5k and under. Hook and Ladder will likely go to 10k next year, so he's out. Always on the lookout for commercial appeal in NY. I have seen some very nice RF's on the ground. He brings in Northern Dancer 4x4 but I think that is okay.
Nice female family on your mare by the way...
