barbaro stakes

Postby RuffianT21 » Wed Jul 04, 2007 9:43 pm

looked a race schedule and saw that the race that was formerly the Leonard Richards Stakes and is now the Barbaro Stakes is coming up.

Isn't that going to cause some confusion with the Barbaro Stakes that was formerly the Sir Barton Stakes, won by Chelokee this year, especially considering they're both for 3 year olds at 8.5 furlongs?

I love Barbaro as much as anyone, but isn't there a problem with having races with the same name?

It shouldn't cause too much confusion. There's a Taylor's Special Stakes at Fairgrounds and one at Arlington, because the horse was a success and a favorite at both courses. There have been no instances of any horse turning up for the wrong version of either stakes.
